World Car Free Day

Launched in 1996, World Car-Free Day is celebrated across the globe in more than 1500 cities. World Car-Fee Day is an annual event to “park the car” and commute by bus, train, bicycle, or walking. Carpooling with one or more passengers reduces the number of cars.  And, the best commute is no commute – telework from home!

World Car-Free Day participants save money, get more exercise, bypass traffic congestions, and promote a cleaner environment.  Move Minneapolis helps commuters and employers save on parking costs, get to work on time, and arrive less stressed out.

Enroll your employer to be the “Best Workplace for Car-Free Commuting,” share your own commuting story to be entered to win a bike, AND join us for a World Car-Free Day celebration on Nicollet Mall between 6thand 7thStreets on Friday, September 21stfrom 11 AM to 1 PM.  Get a free bike check-up from One on One, meet our transportation partners, grab a snack and enjoy some music on Nicollet Mall.
